Halifax Summer Opera Festival presents Don Giovanni, an opera by W.A. Mozart
Sun, Aug 5, 2018 at 7:30pm
One of Mozart's most brilliant and ambiguous operas, apparently ripped from today’s headlines, about a sociopathic, celebrity serial abuser who almost gets away with it. Don Giovanni is the story of the women (and men) damaged by a philandering, roguish womanizer, all set to glorious music. Our #metoo modern-dress production will demonstrate just how relevant this 231 year old opera still is.
In Italian, with projected English translations. Fully-staged and costumed and accompanied by piano and small orchestra.
These performances feature talented young singers from across Canada and the world in town for the 14th annual Halifax Summer Opera Festival, a competitive opera training program. This is an opportunity to hear first class young singers in an intimate venue.
